Program of the ski week

Day 1 - Flight to Tromso through Oslo

Meeting on the dock in Tromso or Alta depending the week you have chosen. We gathering in the harbour at 16h00 o'clock and start loading our gear. We get to know the other participant and we go through the plan for the week and see it in relation to conditions and forecast.

Before it get’s too late in the evening we cast off towards a natural harbour for the night. -/-/D. Night on the boat. Diner.

Day 2 to day 7 - Ski and sail from Tromso to Alta

There is no fixed program for these 6 days, but the goal will be to ski the most beautiful mountains from Tromso to the Finnmark peninsula.

Our long experience on these ski and sail trips allow us to adjust our program every day to choose the best snow and most beautifull ski tour.

Skiing and sailing has become more and more popular for the last 10 years with many more skiers and boats, this is why we have decided to sail toward Finnmark and Alta, as this area is nearly unknown and virgin of ski tourer.

Here are some wonderful mountain to ski:

- Ulstinden 1078 m

- Storgalten 1219 m

- Uloya Island in traverse with its amazing crossing ridge (1139 m)

- Store Kagtinden 1230 m

- Aibmadasgaisa in traverse 1097 m

- Fjelltindnasen 1041 m and many other peaks

Day 7

After our last ski tour we will reach Alta's harbour and spend the night there, ready to catch our flight the next day. Diner.

Day 8

Breakfast and end of our service. Taxi for the airport and flight back home.

This program may change du to weather and snow condition but also depending of you ski level and your fitness.

What is really ski and Sail in Lyngen and Finnmark?

It is a concept where we use our sailboats as a floating chalet; we sail to the foot of the mountains and start our skiing right on the beach.

By boat we are flexible and can move from place to place, and choose hillsides, faces and our areas according to the present conditions we have.

Ski & Sail is a concept done by a french skier / sailor since early 1990ies, and a concept that norwegians recently has started to appreciate.

Some of our guide have started to ski there for the first time in 1993 and know very well the Norwegian cost from Bodo to Finnmark.

Chamonix Mont Blanc Guides arranged Ski & Sail in Bodo, Lofoten, Lyngen and Finnmark, but also Svalbard to share with you these unique ski and sail trip.

Level on this trip - middle

This trip takes some experience from ski touring but you do not need to be advanced.

If you do have a lot of experience it is only positive, and you will be able to challenge yourself. Those with more experience often want to run steeper, and do more meters up and down in one day.

As organizers we try to keep the level as equal as we can, so that we can choose mountains according to the level of the group.

If you are in doubt this is the right trip for you, you are welcome to contact us at any time - even you are beginner or experienced.

This is a ski and sailing trip possible to do for most intermediate skier! If you want to learn about sailing our skipper will be very please to teach you all the skill and technics of sailing.

If you used to sail, welcome to steer the boat and have fun on sailing.

Travel

Check sas.no or wideroe.no for flights to Tromso. If you are travelling from a city in the north or wish to extend your journey with a day or two, you can consider doing it on the Hurtigruten.

Mostly foreign flights stop in Oslo where you will have to check in again.

From airport, taxi to the harbour take 10 mn.

Please don't buy your flight ticket before the group is completed to 7 persons. We will send you an email of confirmation.

Also we will tell you if you must fly to Alta and fly back from Tromso or inversely depending the location of the boat.

Changes in the program

You may see the program as a plan that we adjust according to weather and snow conditions.

Are we in a place without snow, we sail to where there is more snow! With the sailboat we are flexible so we can find the best snow.

Onboard we have with us a dinghy for trips ashore, we have fishing gear for the cod. We are ready to adventure. Are you?

Accommodation

You will sleep in double twin bed or shared king size bed with private bathroom in every cabin.

Food

We take a solid breakfast in the morning and when come back onboard, we'll have a brunch around 2 or 3 pm.

A good dinner will be served around 8 pm. A master chief is on board with us the all trip to prepare our meals.

Cost and Availability of Ski and Sail Tromso / Finnmark 8 days

Cost per person: €4800

The cost is based on a group of 7 to 8 people. If you are a private group, please contact us by e-mail or phone / whats app +33 6 95 04 23 02 to discuss dates and prices.

We need a minimum of 7 persons to run this ski trip. You can sign up as an individual, and we will complete the group.

We can operate the trip for a group of 6 persons for example with an extra cost. (you may consult us for the price)

The Cost includes:

• Organisation of the trip
• Experienced skipper on board and cook
• Hight mountain guide state qualified, specialist of ski touring in Norway
• Full board accomodation 7 nights, 6 days on the boat from day 1 diner to day 8 breakfast

The Cost does not include:

• Drinks on board, such as beer or wine, etc
• Personal equipment and clothing (ski touring, boots, skins, tranceiver, shovel, probe, etc)
• Flights to/from Tromso / Alta
